Who hasn’t been waiting for knitwear season to roll around, I know I really really really have…

As much as I love the hot few days we in the UK are graced with as our summer, now that my tan is thoroughly topped up I am thrilled that fall is finally upon us. All of my glorious knitwear pieces can finally be dusted off and make their way out of seasonal retirement, but of course that never stops me from continually adding to my ever-growing collection. As I've been on the fall-fashion snoop I thought I'd share my favourite pieces with you all.

Here are my top picks...

I love a good hat and happen to have been looking for a cute knitted beanie (check out next week's blog post to find out why... ooh... mystery). I'm not normally a fan of the pom-pom, but this grey beanie is pretty cute. It's super fluffy, comes in a variety of colours, and is perfect for the upcoming cold autumn/winter months.

I am loving this knitted off-the-shoulder jumper (they're calling it a bardot, but I don't think it entirely fits that category). A great, up-to-date twist on a basic cable-knit jumper with that chunky knit design running from top to bottom. It also comes in a variety of colours, including a lovely dark grey, but the cream was the one that stood out the most.

I surprisingly absolutely love the bardot jumpsuit. Totally unwearable for a girl that requires a functioning bra, and probably a total headache when you need a wee, but I do really love it. Your knees may get a little chilly in the winter though, holes seem to be fashionable all year round... but at least you can always cover them up with the fabulous knitted mermaid tail blanket that Lasula are stocking! Ah-mazing. I've seen these around for some time, but for £16 you can't really go wrong.

Um. Stop everything. What a way to wow at a party with this red-carpet-esque beautiful dusky pink skirt. Those ruffles are superb. The skirt also comes in black, but the pink far outshines it. I love that boohoo have teamed it with a bralet too, it really works... though maybe a bralet with straps please. For a less 'princess' and more 'cool' look you could even pair it with the suedette biker jacket. A little less harsh than a full on leather ensemble, it's a great piece for those 'in between' days when autumn is cold but not cold enough for a giant coat. It also comes in tan and 'tumeric' (let's call that yellow).

I am absolutely loving this marled charcoal jumper. It does come in a few other colours, including a light grey, but a marled version always looks so much more expensive and of a higher-quality. At £15 it's a bargain, and I'll more than likely grab this one for myself. A girl can't have too many jumpers. She can't. I'm telling you.

Keeping with the knitwear (my favourite thing of all time), this boyfriend cardigan is a great staple piece. It also comes in burgundy (which I already own) and black. It's super comfy, a little over-sized, and the brown buttons finish it off perfectly. I am definitely a fan of the burgundy version, but as we're only just touching on autumn the beige colour is a far more suitable choice for the freshly-coloured orange leaves outside.

Hello glam, another perfect party piece is this beautiful rose-gold metallic knitted dress with a glamorous scooped back. Busty girls could always wear a tight-fitting black under-dress to help with covering the bra, which may be a great option for most as it is somewhat see-through. It does also come in a lovely pewter grey colour - which is scarily far more see-through.

PLT are definitely still feeling the summer vibe with their ongoing array of fine-knit dresses and tops, buuut as it's technically knitwear we can squeeze it in. This metallic knit also comes in a silver, but the gold is definitely my preference. You could do as the model does and pair it with some underwear (chilly), or maybe go for a more casual look and team it with a vest top and leggings. I'll let you decide. I do think it would be a fabulous dress piece though, it just shouts 'pair me with heels'.

It wouldn't be an autumnal piece without a basic cable-knit jumper creeping in. This one in grey looks a lovely quality, and the cable-knit really does give a jumper an extra bit of autumn class. It is a little short, but that means it would team well with both regular or high-wasited bottoms. Win win.

When you get into cosy knitwear, you end up in cosy lounge-wear, surely? Since Scandinavia I've ditched the pyjamas and moved entirely into lounge-wear mode. You can wear it out and about (you can) without being judged, and it's just as comfortable as being in regular pjs.

Here are my top picks…

I have no idea what's going on with all of the wonderful masquerade pieces floating around the shops lately, is there some incredible masquerade bash coming up this autumn that we're not yet aware of? Either way, this 'feline' themed mask is one of my favourite finds so far. H&M also have one in stock, a lovely pink velvety number. Either of these two would be ideal for a secret masquerade bash.

There are lots of whites floating about this season, and ITS have a lot of lovely white pieces in stock right now. This lace dress is one of my favourites. You could wear it as a casual number with some thick tights, or you could dress it up with some sparkly jewellery, either way it's a fabulously pretty and versatile number.

I am definitely a fan of burnt orange, and have been dying to find the perfect jumper in this colour. Whilst I do love an over-sized jumper, who doesn't, this one is a little short I doubt it would be suitable for my body shape, but it is a fabulous choice and I really am loving the cuffed sleeves. The colour is just perfect for autumn. This is one from Charlotte Crosby's range.

Love love love this Aztek wrap from Billie Faiers' range. The colours are perfect, a dark(ish) grey with a white Aztek design. It's also in the sale too at £12.99, bargain. It's a square shape so can be worn in a number of ways, and ITS also say it's reversible, so presumably white on the inside with grey markings. Yes please! Two outfit accessories for the price of one.

Though it's a little slouchy, and I love a tight-fitting coat, I do love this grey piece from New Look - adorned with a hood, very sensible for a UK autumn. They're claiming it's a cardigan, and as it is technically knitwear I suppose it is. It's a thick cardi that's for sure, and would be perfect for a chilly autumn day.

If you read my SEPTEMBER FASHION HAUL post from last week (read it here) you'll know  that I already own this fabulous grey cardigan. I love it. So much. It really is a warm one, if you're suffering on a chilly day just whip this cardigan out and you'll be toasty within minutes. I was getting incredibly warm just photographing this piece last week. As well as coming in a variety of colours, it also comes in 'tall' too (only in the grey) - unusual for a cardigan, but there we go.

Christmas party season will be upon us quicker than we realise, and so here's a dress to help us on the way. A beautiful black high-necked number with lovely lace designs, this little number is sure to be perfect for that early Christmas party.

Er, hello perfect autumn/winter coat. A beautiful faux-fur trim on a fabulous marled grey coat. Yes please. At £49.99 it's not a bad find at all, and it definitely looks lovely and cosy. There are two giant pockets on the front too, hurrah. Love a good pocket, perfect for keeping your hands warm as you wander around this autumn.

Sadly no floppy hats to be seen yet, not any worth mentioning anyway. Also not that I need another floppy hat, my collection is ever-growing and I'm yet to wear any. Maybe I should bring a few of those out of my wardrobe this autumn. They'd go wonderfully with a few of these pieces too, hmm... Drop me a comment below and let me know what you think of these autumn picks, or if you've found anything fabulous that deserves a mention.
